78: Hookup

Here's a relatively quick sketch gussied up for Illustration Friday's theme of match. I originally pictured this concept with a not-so-subtle plug and socket in place of where the switch and bulb are respectively located, but decided against it when it was noted that it may come off as somewhat raunchy. Instead, I attempted to show a simpler and symbolic representation of two people clicking for the first time, and as an experiment wrapped the whole thing up in this stylized fashion.

A bit of raunchiness never did anyone any harm. You're a bright spark with this illustration.

Cool idea -- the style and colours make it a little 50's or 60's retro... like those old magazine ads... I liek it a lot.

The current's definitely flowing there, the man's "switch" is in the up position and the woman has an unmistakable glow in fact, she's steaming hot!
I like the smart twist you've put on the old plug and socket concept. The 70's motif of course, is very well chosen. Love this!

I like the colors and the sketchy lines.

I think the concept really works. I think the light and switch work better that the plug and socket also because they represent action at a distance. The switch on the wall turns on the light in the room. Anyway, really great illustration.

Oh, admit it, you'd be ripping me off if you used the socket idea! ;-)

What's wrong with raunchy?

But I do like the way the woman is in essence saying "You turn me on."

Well done - a great drawing and concept! Although you opted to go beyond the plug and socket (I used to think it must be some kind of dirty joke that they're called "male" and "female" ), you still have depicted the electricity of a new connection. I really love the clothing and the poses...very classic!
